In a typical athletic situation, rivals scream. They rip into each other’s supporters and yell until one eventually falls, the success or demise of a team’s spirit. However, the mentality of such malice could not be found in any corner of the BYU campus as 24 different schools came together to measure their skills in the 4A Swimming Championship.

The meet began with the Women’s 200 Yard Medley Relay and finished with the Men’s 400 Yard Freestyle Relay, but there was not a single moment that was not filled with the cheers of support from every attendee. No matter the placement of the swimmer, they had the support of the spectators.

Five 4A records were broken this year, bringing new challenges to the Ram swimmers, but despite the pressure, swimmers like Holden Knight placed 2nd in the 100 yard butterfly, while Arden Tesch took home 4th in the 500 meter freestyle. This sort of athletic excellence is no news to Highland though, at the Region 5 Championship the Women’s Team won 1st and the Men’s won 2nd.

In the final scoring, the Women’s Team achieved 7th place and the Men’s Team placed in 10th.
