When Highland Junior, Norman Genda decided to run for SBO president he had some goals in mind. Genda was motivated to bring back the school spirit and community he felt Highland once had. If elected, he was prepared to make the Highland community his top priority.
“One of my main focuses for this upcoming school year is to rebuild back the strong, supportive, and united community that I feel Highland has lost over the years.” Genda said.
In his campaign video, Genda connected with people at Highland from all different backgrounds to promote him for SBO president. Combined with cool glasses, and his impressive film and video skills, Genda had a sweet video.
As he displayed in his video, Genda wanted to make students from all different walks of life feel recognized and loved. He wants all of the students at Highland to feel like they are all on the same team, and everyone is pulling for each other.
“My mission and vision for Highland students is to make every single ram feel valued, recognized, loved, and supported,” Genda said. “As someone who has worked closely with teams, and student leaders, I know the importance of teamwork, and school spirit. I would love to emphasize these things next year.”
For Genda, this mission all starts with people supporting each other. If the football kids are coming to the band concerts, the debate team is coming to basketball games, and the art kids come to chess club, everyone will start to feel supported and recognized.
“Whether you’re involved in sports, arts, or academics, I would love to create opportunities and moments for ram chemistry, and collaboration, so everyone is being recognized for their great works here at Highland!”
Now that Genda has been elected and knows who he’s working with, he’s excited and motivated to get to work preparing for next year.
“I’m super hyped to be the president!” Genda said. “I can’t wait to represent everyone alongside the great SBO team that we have.”
Until next school year, Genda is going to be working super hard to plan everything. He is working alongside other SBO’s and leaders to be prepared for what is to come. On top of that he is going to start reaching out to people and set the example of the supportive community he plans to build.
“I’m super excited to work with the SBO team, staff, and all of the students at Highland to make this the best school year we’ve ever had!”
