Movie Under the Stars

On the evening of October ninth, many Highland students got to travel across the galaxy. They joined the epic battle of foes and fought alongside Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker, and Han Solo against the perilous Emperor and Darth Vader, all from the safety of their own cars

The event? Movie Under the Stars, where students of Highland had the opportunity to watch Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope projected onto the side of the school building, while sitting in their cars like the classic movie drive-in.

Driveins used to be more common than they are today, and once upon a movie were a popular teen pastime in earlier decades. What lacked in classic cars and big hair was made up for in other ways, such as the familiar social scene, high sound quality and effortless watching.

“It was lots of fun,” Annika Carson, Highland student said, “And the movie choice was excellent.”

It was not an event that was highly publicized, but it certainly was one of the most entertaining events Highland has to offer.

“It went well,” Wendy Curtis, who helped organize the event said, “I think we had a good turn out, and it seemed like everyone who showed up had fun.”  It certainly was a large success on Highland’s part, and there’s more in store for the future with events like Battle of the Clubs and Winter Prom!
