Highland has, once again, swept a number of awards at the Utah Future of Journalism award ceremony on the 21st of May. The ceremony has been held for the past five years to commemorate high school journalism.

The Highland Rambler won 2nd place in the Best Design category as well as 3d place in Best Headline Writing. The ‘Ramble On’ podcast produced by Rambler staff also won Best Overall Podcast, with two episodes winning 3d and 1st place in Best Individual Episode of a Podcast (‘Comparing This Year to the Blip’ and ‘BIPOC cast’). HTVS won Best Video Production.

“It’s been a hard year for the Rambler,” said editor-in-chief Peach Schilling, “and I’m proud of the whole staff for working through the adversity of this year in general and pulling through as the Rambler always does.”

On top of this, several writers and photographers from the Highland Rambler won individual awards. Noah Herridge (12), Emma Johnson  (11), Olivia Hufford (10), Rowan MacIntyre (10), and Kai Schwemmer (12) all received recognition from Future of Journalism. Peach Schilling (12), Audrey Hemingway (12), and Abby Khatri (12) each received 3 awards for separate categories.

At the end of the ceremony, Highland won for Best Media Program.

“It’s an amazing honor because while we’re not the biggest or most well known high school, but we do work really hard and getting it this year just shows that we can work through anything,” said Schilling.
