Highland Outruns Judge Memorial

The Highland men’s basketball team defeated former region member and crosstown rival Judge Memorial 90-67 in a game that got out of hand in a hurry.  The Rams only trailed at one point in the entire game by a scale of 2-1 and past that it was all Highland.

By the end of the first half, it was clear that the comparative depth of the Highland team was no match for Judge, whose already small roster had been cut down further due to injury.  Going into the halftime break leading by a score of 53-32 boosted the confidence of the Rams and led the Bulldogs to never close the gap within 15 points.

Besides being able to outrun the Bulldogs, stellar performances both outside the arc and inside the paint led four Rams (Rick Schmidt, Will Trice, Jayden Palauni, and Brevin Elsholz) to all be in double digits regarding points.  Trice and Schmidt specifically had quite the night, with both players scoring over 20 points and Schmidt also notching on 10 rebounds before being rested for the last part of the 4th quarter.  Trice also hit 4 shots from behind the arc that the Bulldogs had no answer for all night.  Defensively the Rams also excelled, holding all but two Judge players to under double digits in points.

This was an especially important win for the Rams who needed to bounce back after the tough loss they had suffered at the hands of Olympus on Tuesday.  The Rams next game will be played a week from Tuesday @ West Jordan for the annual Utah Autism Holiday Tournament.
