As Tea Sitake monitors the halls of Highland, she isn’t just looking for anybody sluffing their classes. She is looking specifically for any volleyball girls wandering.  That is the reason she started working at Highland in the first place.

Just over a month ago, Sitake became the new bookroom lady while also being the head girls’ volleyball coach just shortly before.

“I know a lot of [volleyball girls] hang out in the halls and their grades are flunking,” Sitake said. “So that is one thing I asked for was to help be in the halls to make sure they go to class.”

And having her around Monday through Friday seems to be working to keep the volleyball girls in their classes. She hasn’t seen anyone in the halls since she started her job at Highland.

Sitake has a few more jobs she is in charge of at Highland besides having to monitor the halls. She is also in charge of the bookroom, handing out tardies, and ASD or after school detention.

Before Sitake became the head bookroom lady and the head girls’ volleyball coach, she was a stay-at-home mom.

“Then a job opened up to be the volleyball coach,” Sitake said. “I dragged my daughter over here with me so we’re both here.”

The school loves her and she loves the school. The feeling is mutual. The volleyball girls love her, students who have just barely met her since she has started working at Highalnd love her, and she loves her job.

“I love it here!” Sitake said.

Even though volleyball season may be over, the volleyball girls and others can still see Sitake throughout the school, busy doing her various jobs and making sure her volleyball girls stay on track.
