In a physical matchup the Highland men’s basketball team outlasted Granger extending their winning streak to 5-0. With a final score of 62-47 the rams went toe to toe with the lancers and defended their home court.

Through out the entire game the two talented squads exchanged blows, with many lead changes through out the first half. In what seemed like an evenly matched game early on, both Highland and Granger were each able to spread the ball and impress the fans with their perimeter shooting and crisp passing.

In the final stretch of the second quarter the Rams were able to gain some lea way and pull ahead thanks to some nice finishes in the paint by the highland centers, Caden Hilborn, and Trayton Keys who finished with a combined 23 points.

Coming out of halftime, the Rams made some key adjustments and dominated for the remaining two quarters. Their rebounding and stout defense played a huge part in the overwhelming victory over the Lancers.

“We played well as a team tonight,” Senior and Captain Charlie Gochnour said. “ We just need to continue to do what we’ve been doing going into Fridays game.”

After the Rams started to roll there was no coming back for granger and the rams controlled the remainder of the game with a comfortable lead through out the majority of the fourth quarter.

In what was a major question mark coming into this season, it is the Rams lowerclassmen that have really shined in Highlands Five victories. This younger core led by Liki Makaui who dropped 15 in spectacular fashion has really exceeded expectations.

Playing with a chip on their shoulder Highland hopes to carry their momentum into fridays matchup against Viewmont who has been a tough opponent in years past.
