The Highland Lady Rams came out tonight with another region victory against the Bonneville Lakers, finishing the game with a score of 33-27.

The Rams stayed on a high note from the first whistle. Their height advantage when rebounding at both ends helped them stay offensive for the majority of the half. They stayed ahead throughout the whole first quarter and halfway into the second, when the Lakers then began packing the points. Highland was not able to keep their lead and ended the second quarter with a score of 13-12 for the Lakers.

The Rams came back from halftime with a determination to take and keep the lead. They held that momentum throughout the entire third quarter and scored ten points, meanwhile keeping Bonneville from getting to the basket at all. The third quarter ended with a score of 23-13 for the Rams. The team chemistry was exhibited during this quarter when fans saw the girls work together to keep Bonneville from getting the ball.

As Bonneville began getting shots off in the final quarter, the Rams refused to lose their composure and the back-and-forth shooting battle ended with a final score of 33-27 for the Lady Rams.

Highland now remains tied in first place with Box Elder with eight wins. The team’s chemistry has enhanced throughout the season and it is exhibited on and off the court.
“Our team chemistry from the beginning of the season has slowly improved more and more,” Senior Alex Debow said. “But now that we all know each other so well, I think we are starting to trust each other more and become more comfortable playing on the court together.”

With playoffs creeping up, the Lady Rams have high expectations for what’s to come with their record so far this season.

“We just need to have the right mentality and work harder than ever before,” Debow said. “That’s what will get us to reach our full potential as a team. I know that we have very high expectations for the rest of the season.”
