Rams Send Huskies Running

The Highland Rams came out last night for their third game matching up to the Hillcrest Huskies. All though region hasn’t started yet they were really wanting a win. After the first game got delayed and cancelled, and then the second one was a disappointing loss to Pineview. This prompted the coaches to emphasize coming out strong and playing strong the whole game.

“The way we came into this week was with more focus as a team and be really molded together,” Senior Bronson Olevao said.

This focus had unbelievable results The Highland Rams won the game 58-0. This score could even make it sound closer than it really was. This is because about half way through the second quarter the Rams pulled there starters to get their second string players some real life action.

In the first quarter the Rams came out looking scary they started the quarter by getting an early defensive safety and then forcing an interception to follow. They built from there on both sides of the ball, the foundations were built off the guys up front putting the pressure on the quarterback.

“The line is the tip of the spear,” Olevao said. “Coach Benson challenged our line to be more physical and be leaders out there on the field and that’s exactly what they did.”

This lit a fire under the Rams to get going, and the first quarter blew up from there. They were off to the races and scored 37 points by the end of the quarter. This was a hot start for the offensive side of the ball but the defensive side shut them out in the first quarter.

The next quarter cooled off a little bit with the Rams only scoring wo touchdowns and the Huskies still not being able to find the endzone. In this quarter underclassmen were given the opportunity to get some snap and they looked like they belonged out there with the varsity team.

Coming out of Half the Rams had cooled off quite a bit in the next half only scoring one touchdown in the whole half. But their defense didn’t let up at all. The defense had a lot of pressure on the QB and had an interception in the second half to finish off their shut out.

The Rams have a tough opponent in Lone Peak next week who they will play at home. If they come out with the same intensity and spirit  as they did this week then it should be a very good football game.
