Highland’s Lady Rams Dominate In Third Preseason Game

Max Torres, Staff Writer

The Highland Lady Rams tasted victory on Friday night against Alta. They played a good game and earned their 44 to 28 win. It was a nice way to get back from their last game loss.

Highland won the tip-off at the start and immediately got up the court to score the first points. 5 minutes in, Kaija Glasker got fouled and made one for two at the line. It happened again to her in the fourth minute, and she put both in this time. The Rams lead the first quarter 11 to 7 to start the game off well.

The second quarter brought more points for Highland, many from Glasker who was playing aggressively. The Rams ended the half with 23 points over Alta’s 15 points.

In the third quarter, it only got better for Highland. The Rams kept Alta at bay, only letting them score 3 points the entire time. Highland, on the other hand, put in 8 more to make the score 30 to 18 at the end of the quarter.

The fourth quarter was an exciting and good end to the game. Although Highland gave up 10 baskets to Alta, they made up for that with 14 of their own. Chelsea Cowburn was having fun, making a backward layup while also earning a foul for the Rams. Highland finished off the game with 16 points over Alta, winning their third preseason game.

Kaija Glasker, a key player in Friday’s match said,

“ The past two games we have come out with losses, but it was nice to be able to come back and play as a team to get the win.”

She was glad that The Lady Rams could come out on top.

Alta was not able to make very many long distance shots, which was a factor in their loss. Highland only allowed them close shots and layups. The Rams were able to make a lot of their three-pointers, which got them the lead throughout the game. They also won most of the rebounds to make easy layups.

A large source of Alta’s baskets came from the foul line, where they did well in putting those in. Highland ended with 7 fouls, while Alta had 6.

Both The Lady Rams and the fans had a good time. Rachel Straight, a junior at Highland, and former player for the team summarized the game well.

“ I couldn’t stop watching this game, the girls held my attention the whole time. Come support our Lady Rams!”

Highland’s next game is against Juan Diego Catholic, on Tuesday, December 4th.
