East Takes Win Over Lady Rams In A Close Match

With the excitement of playing their rival highschool, East, the Highland volleyball team came into the game with energy and determination. The early enthusiasm resulted in a quick to 25 set.

With captains Ame Tuha and Lassi Hassler leading the charge to the win of the first set the whole team came together to win the battle. The final score of the first set  25-19.

With the second set coming to a close at 18-25 East winning. The Highland girls didn’t go down without a fight displaying hard hits, quick blocks, and great saves. 

At the start of the third set the fans of both East and Highland became rowdier with suspense on who would win the game with both teams tied 1-1 in sets. Highland went on to beat East 25-13 with the help of Cecilia Olevao and her height defending the net. 

However Highland was unable to carry the momentum into the fourth set, resulting in East winning 20-25. Pushing the game to overtime in a fifth set which East also won 11-15. Sending the highland volleyball team home with a loss. 

Even with the result of the game the girls went home with their chins up and their coaches and captains proud.

“I was way beyond proud of how my girls played tonight,” Ame Tuha team captain said, “they showed a lot of improvement from last game.” 

Playing your rival school is fun and can add energy into the team and especially the bench in cheering.

“There was a lot more energy tonight, but our bench always comes ready to support the girls,” Ame Tuha captain said. 

A game packed with excitement and nail-biting moments the volleyball team displayed growth and maturity in their loss to East. With the majority of the season left the Highland Volleyball team is ready to bring home some wins and are excited to keep improving.
