Super Smash: Pumpkin Edition

There has been a recent outbreak of vandalism at Highland High School and it’s “smashing.”  The parking lot of Highland has always no been the safest place in the world, but now it’s getting worse.  Senior Bubs Divver is one of the many victims affected by this vandalism.  After walking out of school one day, Divver was shocked to find that he had been “pumpkined.”

Being “pumpkined” constitutes of having part or all of a pumpkin being smashed on top of a car as a practical joke.  Many students are used to jokes being played on their cars, but this has really upped the game.  The only other significant instance of action taken against cars this year was when the SBOs wrote “#X #HHS” on practically every car in the parking lot.  On this fateful day however, Divver could not believe what had happened.

“There were pumpkins on top of my car and someone had thrown the pumpkin against the ground, and grabbed a piece of it and smeared it all over my car”  Divver said, describing the mess he encountered at his car.

After discovering the pumpkins, Divver took his car home, cleaned off the mess and then returned to the dreaded Highland parking lot for basketball.  After basketball he was shocked to find it had happened again, the second time that day.  However this time it had been done with many pumpkins instead of just one large one.

“It was like a pumpkin patch” Divver said.

But pumpkins are not the only thing being smashed on cars.  Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches have also been another popular item used to smash on cars.  Ranging from just peanut butter to just jelly to the whole sandwich, there is no telling what will be used next.  Besides Divver, Senior Zach Tucker and Juniors Callie Frasier, Annie Connolly, and Thomas Croft have all also been victims of this spree.  With all of them being “pumpkined” or having part or all of a PB&J smashed on their car.  Currently the perpetrators of the smashing have not been found but many of the victims believe they know who it was.  Although they would not name names, it is clear in the victims minds who committed these crimes.

Although various types of car antics in high school are par for the course, this year’s pranksters are going above and beyond.  Normally, cars are “keyed,” have messages written on them with car marker, and with the weather getting colder being “snowballed” but this year, look out for new, creative ways that your car may be defaced.
